ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES (EAP)
GEA has pathway and partnership agreement with Canada University. Students at our schools can receive counselling and assistance with University and college applications from our experienced staff. We are also happy to coordinate with agents to create the best possible study plan for each individual student.
Preparing for University or College demands a high level of academic English. This involves developing a strong command of academic reading, note taking and lecture skills, and of course, academic writing and research skills
The English for Academic Purposes(EAP) Program help students prepare the skills they need for entering university. There are 2 levels in EAP Program, 8 weeks for each level, 25 hours of classes per week. The course is divided into two sections, which also correspond to the language skills(listening/speaking/reading and writing) and one assessment for each. The language systems of pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and discourse are taught all of the course sections as appropriate. Students who successfully complete this program will be ready to succeed at college or university.
Students must be tested at a minimum level 5 to begin the EAP program. Student who test below level 5 must complete the ESL Program prior to entering the EAP Program.
Students must pass all classes in ESL program with a minimum 50% to proceed to the next level. Students who pass with a minimum 90% could retake the placement test to skip one level or proceed to EAP Program.
Students in EAP level who pass all classes with a minimum 75% are eligible to get a direct entry to partner colleges or universities without IELTS or TOEFL.
